Hello, I’m glad you’re here.
Duncan Sibbald - Mountain Leader
I'm excited to share a bit about my journey with you.
From a young age, I've been mesmerised by sport and the great outdoors. Family holidays on the Islands of the West Coast of Scotland introduced me to Scottish Island hikes and some of the most stunning mountains and landscape around. I participated in various amateur sports and I got a taste of a whole host of outdoor adventures, but what really stood out was hiking in Scotland with groups of people and mastering winter skills on the slopes of Ben Vane in Loch Lomond. It confirmed that I was hooked on mountain hiking!
Fast forward a bit and I’m even more devoted to enjoying the best hikes in Scotland and The Lake District than ever. Whether I’m exploring Scotland’s mountains, the fells of the Lake District or the highest European Alps, I’m happiest when I’m outdoors and that made me realise the benefits of becoming a qualified mountain leader in the UK and that it was a natural progression for me.
Through this website, I'll be sharing my personal outdoors adventures, hoping to inspire you to lace up your walking boots, grab your walking poles and get out hiking wherever you are.
Feel free to reach out if you’d like to hire me as your guide for hiking in Scotland or The Lake District. I’m always happy to chat about all things outdoors!
I completed my training and assessment for the Mountain Leader Award at Glenmore Lodge - Scotland’s National Mountain Centre.
Together with my college qualification in Sports Coaching with Sports Development, this means that working with groups in the outdoors is a real passion of mine. If all of this means I can help others find as much joy in the outdoors as I do, then that's fantastic!
Harvey Maps have been making maps since 1977 which makes them the perfect company for me to work in a mutually benficial basis as that’s when my life journey began! I’m delighted to be one of their recognised professionals that use their maps.
This partnership brings with it great benefits for OutdoorsDJ and it’s clients and I’m delighted to be working with Harvey Maps!
I became First Aid qualified with the British Association of Ski Patrollers. BASP offer outdoor specific first aid training which related to working in the outdoors, so it fitted perfectly.
I am a member of Mountaineering Scotland, a member organisation representing the interests of all who love Scotland’s Mountains.
I am also Disclosure Scotland checked. Disclosure Scotland assists employers in making safer hiring decisions and ensures that unsuitable individuals do not work with vulnerable groups, including children.
