Helvellyn

Guided Hike

The 3rd highest Fell in England and The Lake District. Helvellyn has gained wide spread notariety, not only because of it’s height standing in The Lake District, but due to some of the routes that take you to the summit.

The route we will take, weather dependant, is a personal favourite of mine. After meeting in the picturesque village of Glenridding on the shores of the beautiful Ullswater, we’ll head towards Grisedale Tarn, following Grisedale Beck under the watchful eye of St Sunday Crag. We’ll have the opportunity to take a rest before taking in the climb towards Helvellyn.

If you are a Wainwright bagger, this route is perfect for you! By the end of the day’s hiking you’ll have 5 Wainwright peaks in your rucksack having stood at the top of Dollywaggon Pike, Nethermost Pike, Helvellyn, Whiteside and Raise. We’ll then enjoy what is a cracking route back to Glenridding hiking through the now disused Greenside Mines.

As this route is a long day, none of these Wainwright Fells are below 850 metres in height and almost 20km in distance, you will need a certain level of fitness however, there are a number of routes available depending on what you are looking for.

Kentmere Horseshoe

Guided Hike

We should begin with saying that this is a big but massively rewarding day! Approximately 20km in distance, 1000 metres of ascent and 8 Wainwrights does mean that a certain level of fitness is required to complete this classic hike that can have the feeling of being quite remote and far from assistance!

It that gets your juices flowing you’ll be rewarded with some of the best landscape views around, an absolute stunner of a walk!
